Here are some favorite places to shop local in the Lynchburg area for the holidays and all through the year. Hours may sometimes vary from posted hours, so check before you visit!
Accents Flags, Gifts, Home & Garden – Decor items fill the store at Accents Flags & Gifts, located at 1716 Main Street in Lynchburg. In addition to a wide variety of full-sized and garden flags, you’ll find many home decor items, cheese ball and dip mixes, candles, scented sprays, fragrance oils, sports gifts, monogrammed gifts, baby gifts, pet gifts, wind chimes, garden decor, military decor and more. Accents is open Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM, Sundays from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Anderson’s Country Market – Located at 3748 South Amherst Highway in Madison Heights, Anderson’s Country Market offers a large selection of hanging baskets and bedding plants in season. In addition, you’ll find handmade gifts, fudge, and lots of other goodies. Anderson’s has a huge selection of holiday candy and treats, spices and baking needs in small quantities or bulk, and an in-store deli. Anderson’s is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM – 6 PM. Look for the antique buggy outside the store.
Angelic Haven Floral & Gifts – Flower arranging is an art and a gift of love at Angelic Haven, located at 7201 Timberlake Road in Lynchburg. Let our friends at Angelic Haven create a unique, artistic arrangement; a gift basket of gourmet snacks or fresh fruit; or an indoor plant for someone special. Angelic Haven is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Online ordering is also available. Look for the vintage bicycle decorated with flowers outside the shop on Timberlake Road.
Arthur’s Jewelry – Located at 111 North Bridge Street in Bedford, Arthur’s has proudly served the community since 1897 with the highest quality jewelry and unique gifts to warm any heart. Arthur’s is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM to 3 PM. Online shopping is also available.
Bailey Spencer Hardware – Bailey Spencer Hardware first opened its doors to Lynchburg in 1897. Since then, they have been a staple of Lynchburg providing services from day to day hardware needs, contracting services, special orders on doors, windows, and hardware. In addition, Bailey Spencer has a unique collect of architectural antiques ranging from iron gates, doors, stained glass, Christmas decor, and more. Be sure to visit the third floor, where local artists have studios. Bailey Spencer is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Bedford Area Welcome Center – Located at 816 Burks Hill Road in Bedford (at the foot of the National D-Day Memorial), the Bedford Area Welcome Center is a place for visitors and residents alike to get information about the area and also has a wonderful gift shop with many unique locally crafted items for sale. During the holidays, stop in for the Festival of Trees at Bedford Area Welcome Center with Christmas trees decorated by local businesses to raise money for non-profit organizations. The Bedford Area Welcome Center is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Bowen Jewelry Company – Located at 829 Main Street in downtown Lynchburg, Bowen Jewelry has served Lynchburg and Central Virginia with fine jewelry, including custom designed and estate jewelry, since 1933. A family-owned and operated business, Bowen Jewelry is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Cheryl’s Secret Garden – Located at 19204 Forest Road in Lynchburg, Cheryl’s offers fresh flowers, live plants, and unique gift items for all ages and also offers online ordering. Cheryl’s Secret Garden is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM to 2 PM.
Divine Designs & Delights – Located at 1045 Thomas Jefferson Road in Forest, Divine Designs & Delights offers a wide variety of specialty gifts, including clothing and accessories; custom wreaths and gift baskets; jewelry, customized gifts, and more. Divine Designs & Delights is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM.
The Farm Basket – Located at 2008 Langhorne Road in Lynchburg, The Farm Basket is the area’s original gift shop. You’ll find gourmet food gifts, garden statues and plants, unique home and kitchen accessories, jewelry, fresh fruit, and more. The Farm Basket, which began as a roadside fruit stand in in 1964 and has recently been renovated, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM with the cafe open from 10 AM – 3 PM.
The Flower Basket – Located at 3922 South Amherst Highway in Madison Heights, The Flower Basket offers beautiful flower arrangements, green and blooming plants, and gift baskets to brighten anyone’s day. The Flower Basket is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM – 1 PM. You can also shop online.
Forest Farmer’s Market – Outdoor season has ended at Forest Farmer’s Market, located at 15583 Forest Road in Forest. But Winter Market dates are coming soon on Nov. 19 and the second Saturday of the month from December through April, all from 9 AM – 12 PM. Forest Farmer’s Market is a producer only market so vendors can only sell what they raise, grow, or produce. From local vegetables, fruits, meats, and eggs, to unique handcrafted items made by local artisans, you’ll find just the right gift at Forest Farmer’s Market.
Gary’s Garden Center – Located at 794 Leesville Road in Lynchburg, Gary’s offers top quality plants and shrubs seasonally. From Poinsettias and Christmas Cactus to Norfolk Island Pines and Amaryllis there’s something for everyone at Gary’s. Christmas hours are: Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, Saturdays from 8 AM to 4 PM, and Sundays from 12 PM to 4 PM.
Givens Books & Little Dickens – Located at 2236 Lakeside Drive in Lynchburg, Givens offers a great selection of books for all ages; teacher resources; a variety of educational toys and games, and many items you can’t buy in the big box stores. Give a gift of fun this year. Givens is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 7 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM to 6 PM. You can also shop online anytime.
Hill House Interiors – Located at 163 South Main Street in Amherst, Hill House is a unique gift shop offering high quality home decor items, handbags and accessories, collectibles, gourmet foods and wines, and more. Hill House is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Local APX Market – Located at 1848 Church Street in the heart of historic Appomattox, Local APX is a food, farm and artisan Market serving the Appomattox community and visitors. Local APX is offers pop-up events at various times through the year.
Lynchburg Community Market – Serving the Lynchburg community since 1783, you’ll find everything from flowers and gourmet desserts to handcrafted gifts that will please anyone on your shopping list. The Market is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 AM to 2 PM. Visit the market, located at 1219 Main Street in Lynchburg on Saturdays for fresh market days. Watch for special holiday events, including Mistletoe Market events in November and December!
Nannys Prims and Decor – Located at 1072 Corporate Park Drive, Ste. B in Forest, Nannys Prims and Decor offers home decor items, including primitive, farmhouse, Christmas decor, and much more. Prims and Decor is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 AM – 5 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM – 2 PM.
Penelope – With two locations in our area, Penelope is your go-to shop for unique jewelry, including the area’s largest selection of sterling silver jewelry. You’ll also find fashion jewelry, clothing, and accessories, including many items that can be personalized. Lynchburg area shops are located at 120-E Simons Run in Lynchburg and 14805 Forest Road in Forest, with additional locations in Farmville, Charlottesville, Richmond, Chesterfield, Midlothian, Daleville, and Glen Allen. All stores are open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Family owned and operated since 1988, Penelope is a favorite destination for women of all ages and also offers online shopping.
Rustic View Home & Gardens – Located at 5169 Waterlick Road in Forest, Rustic View offers a wide selection of bedding flowers, shrubs and trees; outdoor furniture, and gifts. Rustic View is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, Saturdays from 9 AM – 5 PM, and Sundays from 12 PM to 4 PM.
St. Nic’s – Located in the same building as Divine Designs & Delights, St. Nic’s offers a winter wonderland of Christmas decor and gifts. St. Nic’s opens for the holiday season early in October and is open through Dec. 24. St. Nic’s is closed on Sunday and Monday; open 10:30 to 5:30 on Tuesday through Friday and 10:00 – 4:00 on Saturday.
Spearman Artisanry – Located at 919 Main Street in downtown Lynchburg, Spearman Artisanry offers unique fair trade and locally made jewelry, apparel, and gifts, handcrafted by artisans both in the US and around the globe. This includes one-of-a-kind hand crocheted jewelry in fine silver and non precious metals. Spearman is open Monday through Friday from 11 AM – 5 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Winey Chicks Boutique – Located at 18013 Forest Road in Forest, Winey Chicks offers unique women’s apparel, accessories, handbags, shoes, wine, home decor, gifts, and more. Shop during store hours Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM or shop online anytime.
